Problem Solving

A problem is a gap in expected performance or the expectation of a certain level of performance that is not being realized. The process of analyzing situations, determining root causes and solutions and implementing those solutions free from personal bias or individual impact is the sign of a true leader - a Strategic Manager. Strategic Managers recognize problems when they see them. They realize the difference between what the team, themselves, and their management expects and what is the actual performance level.

Strategic Managers are capable of clarifying the problem, documenting the evidence with hard data and not conjecture or supposition, communicating the problem to their team and building support to resolve it. They also know how to ensure the results match their intended results, and that means are in place to ensure the problem does not return.

In fact, many times the Strategic Manager will recognize that sometimes the root cause of a problem is staring back in the mirror.

Strategic Managers have an “empowered” mentality. They proactively seek out true problems that require their action. They use problem solving techniques to efficiently and effectively resolve them and to implement solutions.

The Project Management workshop will help you and your managers to:

  • Identify high impact problems.
  • Map the process that houses the problem and find the root cause.
  • Design solutions to resolve problems and improve performance.
  • Create implementation plans that will ensure organizational support and success.
  • Develop ways to measure and track results for ongoing success.
