This workshop is designed to effectively sharpen your skills and build your confidence in coaching for performance, using real world examples and situations you may currently be facing. In this workshop, you will learn about coaching for performance in two contexts: guiding a strong associate to the next level of performance and assisting an associate not meeting objectives to an acceptable level of performance.
Not only does this course cover the concepts of performance coaching but also reviews an underlying foundation that should exist in your business unit. This foundation consists of a vision, objectives, and metrics, and when in place can prevent the necessity for performance coaching in some cases.
However, what happens when you have a vision and objectives and an associate still misses the mark? Or your associate wants to take his or her performance to the next level? That’s where performance coaching comes in. As the word coaching implies, this is a series of conversations and not just one discussion on performance. This course will give you the tools to structure performance conversations and provide clear feedback as well as determine the underlying causes of poor performance when necessary.
At the conclusion of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Collaboratively create a vision and objectives for the business unit
- Establish metrics against which to measure the business unit’s and the individual’s performance
- Determine the root causes of a performance issue
- Plan for and hold conversations to discuss performance improvement
- Structure and deliver effective feedback
